Skip Bin Hire FAQs Sydney

You can hire a bin for anywhere from a few hours up to seven days as part of our standard service. Most cleanups are comfortably finished within the seven-day window. If you need longer, just let us know when you book or give us a ring partway through - extensions are usually straightforward.

Once we pick up your bin, it heads straight to a licensed waste facility. There, the contents are sorted so that timber, metal, cardboard, concrete, and green waste can be recycled or repurposed. Only the leftover material that genuinely cannot be reused ends up in landfill. Recycling takes more effort than dumping, but it's not only cheaper, it's the right way to do things.

It happens more often than you would think - projects grow, garages hide more than you expected, and suddenly the bin is full with a pile still to go. Just ring us and we will arrange a swap. We will pick up the full bin and drop an empty one in its place, usually the same day or the next. The best spot is usually on your own property - a driveway is ideal. You will need a clear space at least 3 metres wide for our truck to reverse in and drop the bin, and no trees or power lines directly overhead. If your property does not have room, we can organise a council permit to place the bin on the street or nature strip. If you are unsure, call us and we can talk through it.

Only if the bin is going on council land - a footpath, road, or nature strip. If it is on your own driveway, no permit is needed. Council permits can take anywhere from a couple of days to a week depending on your council, we can help with the paperwork, so let us know early if you think you will need one.

It depends on the bin you have booked. Mixed-waste bins take most general rubbish - furniture, timber, garden waste, general household junk, broken appliances (not fridges or aircons), and so on. Clean-fill bins take dirt, bricks, and concrete only. Green waste bins take organic garden material. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, just ask.

Some materials cannot go in a standard skip:

• Asbestos
• Chemicals, solvents, paints and oils
• Batteries and gas bottles
• Fridges, freezers and air conditioners (unless pre-arranged)
• Tyres and liquid waste
• Food waste and contaminated material

Asbestos needs its own sealed bin and specific paperwork, which is why we ask you to ring us before you start the job. In most cases, asbestos removal must be carried out by a licensed removalist - we can point you in the right direction. Never put asbestos in a standard mixed-waste bin.

It depends on the size of the job and the type of waste. Most home cleanouts fit in a 3m³ or 4m³ bin. Renovations and full house cleanouts usually sit between 4m³ and 6m³. Building sites tend to need 6m³ and up - we run Marrel bins to 10m³ and hook lift bins from 15m³ for the bigger jobs. For most suburbs in Sydney, we can deliver the same day if you ring us before lunchtime, and the next day if you book in the afternoon. Specific delivery windows get tight during peak periods, so the earlier you book, the more flexibility you have.

Payment is taken at the time of booking, over the phone or online, by card or bank transfer. We send a receipt straight to your email so you have everything on record.

No problem. Give us a ring and we can usually come pick it up earlier, or swap it for an empty one if you have more waste to come. We would rather come back a day early than have a full bin sitting in your driveway getting in the way.

We strongly recommend against climbing into a skip bin. It is not designed as a working platform, and there can be sharp edges, uneven surfaces, or broken glass underneath the waste. Load the bin from outside wherever possible, and keep the load level rather than piling it up in the middle.

Most of the time, rain is no drama - your bin will simply get a bit wetter. That said, very heavy rain can add significant weight to materials like soil and mulch, so try to keep tarps handy if you expect a downpour and your bin is mostly full of those. For most household waste, rain has no real impact.
